Managing Work-Related Injuries with OHM (SaaS) and the Incident Management System (IMS)

The value of linking health and safety information is apparent when an injury triggers various documentation events. OHM handles the medical management of an injury in the Case Management module. IMS creates injury records and stores injury data, some of which overlaps with OHM case data. IMS also collects information that is used to understand and report on injuries from a safety perspective. Integrating these two products allows common fields of data to be updated in the other system such OSHA-required information including lost work days, restricted work days, and various other aspects of the injury.

The Health Portal becomes the employee's primary view of everything without regard to the application from which it originates. Employees can see everything from healthcare appointments to safety training assignments. Employees are given a tool that makes it easy to report workplace hazards or injuries. The information is seamlessly received by appropriate managers who can follow up and track the entire process through resolution.

Behind the scenes, an OHM case is automatically created when an IMS supervisor creates an IMS injury record, preparing the way for medical case management by healthcare staff. Conversely, an IMS supervisor report and injury record is automatically created when an OHM case is added, notifying the safety manager that an employee was treated for a work-related injury. The link created between the OHM case and the IMS injury record allows for easy updating and viewing of information on both systems, provided appropriate permissions are given by each system.

Adding or modifying an employee record in one system automatically updates relevant demographic fields for the same employee the other system. Each system maintains its own database, security, and all other aspects of normal operation.

Some PureSafety employees, such as administrators, may have permission to use the OHM application. A single sign-on means these employees can open OHM without logging in separately, provided security permissions allow such access. Similarly, OHM users who are logged into OHM can open their own Health Portal page directly from OHM without logging in separately

PureSafety imports are not available after integration and all importing must occur from OHM. However, the integration handles the synchronization between systems when an employee record is deleted, merged, archived, or unarchived.
