Review Asset Guidelines

Guideline Description

Naming Conventions

Use the guidelines below for naming assets you upload into the CCS.

  • Use only lowercase characters.
  • Do not use any special characters.
  • Do not use any spaces. If you need to separate words, use underscores (_) instead of spaces.
  • File names should not include more than 50 characters.
  • File descriptions should not include more 500 characters.

Guidelines for Image Files

  • Use .jpg or .jpeg format (recommended) for photographic images that are not greater than 300 kilobytes per megapixel.
  • These files (.jpg or .jpeg) should have a resolution of 320 pixels x 240 pixels or less, saved at 80% quality level.
  • Use .gif format for non-photographic illustrations.
  • Do not use .png, .bmp, or .tiff file formats for image assets in the CCS.

Guidelines for Audio Files

  • Use .mp3 files (recommended): 22KHz, 16 bit, 24 kbps, monophonic.
  • We do not recommend using .wav files due to their large size.

Guidelines for Video Files

  • Utilize Flash video (.flv) files for maximum compatibility and best bandwidth usage.
  • Recommended file size is 10 MB.
  • Files should have a resolution of at least 320×240 (preferably higher/larger).
  • Files should be at least 10 FPS (preferably higher).
  • We recommend that final embedded video clips should not be longer than 5 minutes each.
  • Video clips should be embedded within a Flash .swf (best reliability). This format releases the learner’s PC resources once the Flash content is closed.

SCORM Guidelines

Use SCORM version 1.2 for LMS communication.
