Import Error Codes

The table below provides information about the error messages that may generate during imports. The table also includes the steps you can follow in order to correct the issues.

Address1 is required.

The import file is missing data in the Address1 field. This error message displays when information is provided in the Address2, State, and Country fields in a record, but there is no data in the Address1 field.

Type the employee's or organization unit's address in the Address1 field.

Then, import the file again.

All required columns were not found in import.

The import file is missing at least one required column or the header is incorrect. The header may be misspelled, have an extra, or be missing a space.

Add all the required data or edit the header in the import file.

Then, import the file again. The required data is EmployeeCode, FirstName, and LastName.

An error occurred preparing records for validation.

The system cannot complete the steps below, which are required before the import process can start.
  • When an employee import takes place, a temporary table gets populated with all the employee and user login details.
  • When an organization unit import takes place, a temporary table gets populated with all the organization unit details.

Column Header Missing: <Missing Column>

The import file is missing at least one column header. The header may also be misspelled, have an extra space, or be missing a space.

Add or edit column headers in the import file.

Then, import the file again.

Employee Code is required.

One of the records in the import file is missing the employee code, which is required.

Type the correct employee code in the import file.

Then, import the file again.

Failed while attempting to open the Import Data Source or File due to invalid file type.

The import file uses an invalid file type. It must use one of the following types: .txt or .xls.

You can import only the following types of files into the PureSafety: .txt, or xls. Move your data into one of these formats.

Then, import the file again.

<FieldName> cannot include any of the following characters @#$%^&*()

One of the records in the import file includes invalid characters. The import file should include only letters and numbers.

Note: The only exception to this error is the password field.

Change the value in the appropriate field so that it uses only letters and numbers.

Then, import the file again.

FirstName is required.

One of the records in the import file is missing the employee's first name, which is required.

Type the employee's first name in the import file.

Then, import the file again.

Invalid Birth Date entered.

One of the records in the import file has an invalid birth date.

Type a birth date that uses the MM/DD/YYY format or leave this field blank.

Then, import the file again.

Invalid Culture entered.

Note: Refers to the language field

One of the records in the import file has an invalid value in the Culture field, which stores the employee's primary language.

Type a valid language in the import file.

Then, import the file again.

Invalid Gender entered.

One of the records in the import file has an invalid value in the Gender field, which accepts only the following values: Male, Female, or Unknown.

Type a valid gender in the import file and then import the file again. You can use Male, Female, or Unknown.

Invalid Hire Date entered.

One of the records in the import file has an invalid hire date.

Type a hire date that uses the MM/DD/YYY format or leave this field blank.

Then, import the file again.

Invalid TimeZone entered.

One of the records in the import file has an invalid time zone.

Type a valid time zone. Use the list that is available in the import template.

Then, import the file again.

LastName is required.

One of the records in the import file is missing the employee's last name, which is required.

Type the employee's last name in the import file and then import the file again.

Login Name is required.

One of the records in the import file is missing the employee's user name.

Type the employee's PureSafety user name in the import file and them import the file again.

Need a valid password.

One of the records in the import file is missing the employee's password.

Type the employee's PureSafety password in the import file and then import the file again.

PhoneNumber is required.

The import file does not include a number in the PhoneNumber field.

This error message displays when a phone type, extension, and country display in a record, but there is no phone number in the record.

Type the employee's or organization unit's phone number in the PhoneNumber field.

Then, import the file again.

Server Error: <Exception Message>

A server error occurred during the import.

Spaces not allowed in login name.

The employee's PureSafety user name includes spaces, which are not allowed.

Remove any spaces from employees' user names and import the file again.

User Name must be unique.

The employee's user name is already used for another employee. PureSafety does not allow duplicate user names.

Assign a slightly different user name to the new employee. For example, you could add numbers after the user name (jsmith2) or you could use middle names (jmsmith) to distinguish between user names for employees with the same first and last names.
