Prepare to Use the Employee Web Services

You must identify the data involved. You must also determine which fields best meet the needs for you organization.

  1. Review the existing hierarchy structure in PureSafety.
This structure is customer-specific. You can review it in two ways.
    • View the Organization Directory. On the People tab, expand all the folders on the left side of the screen to see all the organization units.
    • Run the User Account Information report (Reports tab > People reports > User Account Information > Select all the users.) This report displays the organization units to which employees belong.
  2. Review the employee fields that can be updated using the Employee Web Services.

Below is important information about some employee fields.

    • The Employee Code uniquely identifies an employee. If the Employee Code given in an web service call is also found in an employee record in PureSafety, they are assumed to be the same person.
    • Employee records can be created and deleted, and their associated login information can be managed. Users can access PureSafety immediately upon receiving their login credentials. Once employees have login credentials, they can not be deleted. They can be deactivated to remove their system access.
    • Email, phone, and address information can be added or updated for employees.
    • You can update every employee each time you import through the Employee Web Services from the HRIS or you can import only modified employees. No changes are made in PureSafety for employees whose data remains the same.
    • A password is required when establishing new user credentials for an employee. Passwords are not required when updating login information unless you want to change a user's password.
    • Employees can be placed in new Groups and/or Org Units through the web service. The Groups and /or Organization Units must already exist in the client hierarchy.
  3. Review the Employee Web Services calls that can be updated through the Employee Web Services.
