Add Drop Boxes

Drop boxes are used to present questions, or images representing questions, to trainees. When viewing a drag-and-drop slide in an interactive presentation, trainees are presented with drag boxes (containing possible answers) and drop boxes (containing possible questions or images representing questions).

For example, a drag-and-drop slide could contain three drop boxes with unique job titles on each, six drag boxes with unique job functions on each, and the instructions: 'Drag and drop each job function on the appropriate job title.' In this example, a trainee must drag each job function and drop it on the job title that is responsible for that function.

  1. Open the drag-and-drop slide you want to add a new drop box to (for instructions, see the View Slides topic).
  2. Click Drop Box in the Slide Editor toolbar.
A new drop box displays on the slide with the text, 'New droptarget'.
  3. Double-click the new drop box.
    The Edit Box window displays.
  4. The Unused Text tab is used to enter the text that displays on the drop box during the drag-and-drop learning activity. This text is displayed on the drop box until the last drag item is placed on the drop box. At this point, the drop box displays the Used Text (see Step 6). Use the following steps to format the text and display an image with the text.
    • Font. All text displays in Arial, by default. Use the font drop-down list to select a different font for the text.
    • Font Size. All text displays in 14 point size, by default. Use the size drop-down list to select a different font size.
    • Font Style. All text displays as normal text, by default. You can change the text to bold (B) or italic (I), or you can underline the text (U).
    • Alignment. The text is left aligned, by default. You can center the text, make it right aligned, or make it justified.
    • Color. All text is black, by default. You can click the Color button to change the text color. You can also create a custom color for the text in addition to the preset colors. Click OK after selecting a color.
    • Image. To insert an image on the drag box, click the Select New button. If the image you want to display is listed in the Image window, select it and click OK. If the image you want to display is not listed in the Image window, click Upload New and browse to select the file. Once the file is listed in the Image window, select it and click OK.
  5. The Used Text tab is used to enter the text that displays on the drop box after the drag-and-drop learning activity is complete. After the last drag item is placed on this drop box, the drop box displays the used text entered in this tab. See Steps 5 for instructions about formatting the text and displaying an image with the text.
  6. Next, go to the Box Styles tab and type the appropriate information and click Save.
For more information about this tab, go to the Box Styles Tab topic.
  7. Go to the Feedback tab and enter the appropriate information.
For more information about this tab, go to the Feedback Tab topic.
  8. If you typed text on the Feedback tab, go to the Feedback Styles tab and enter the appropriate information.
For more information about this tab, see the Feedback Styles Tab topic.
  9. Click OK on the Edit Box window.
The text, box styles, and feedback settings are applied to the selected drag box.
