Create And Manage Offline Training Events

Offline Training is instruction requiring an instructor-led environment. Offline training examples include classes for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), where a live instructor would enhance the learning objectives of these life-saving requirements.

Offline training has the properties below.

  • Title. Use this field to name and identify the offline training. For example, "CPR/AED."
  • Description. Use this field to provide a description relevant to the offline training. For example: "Designed for the Professional Rescuer, this class covers the basics of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, foreign body airway obstruction (Heimlich Maneuver), use of an Automated External Defibrillator. Will satisfy any job or school requirement for CPR and First Aid."
  • Available Sessions. Use this functionality to add, edit, or remove sessions.
  • Users Can Self-Register. This setting controls whether users can register for themselves or if the Administrator must register them. Users (e.g., trainees, students) can only sign up for a session that is open. A session that reaches the specified number of maximum attendees does not allow additional users to enroll.

Offline training must have at least one session. Users with the permission to create an offline training (e.g., Instructors, Trainers, or Training Administrators) must also create its sessions. Sessions are scheduled events at a physical location. Users can create as many sessions as needed. Sessions can be scheduled to manage multiple occurrences of an offline training.

For example, a user may need to create three CPR/AED classes for Saturday at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM, held in Building A, Room 10. In this example, each scheduled class represents a session.

Sessions have the following properties:

  • Start Date. The date on which the session begins. This field uses the MM/DD/YYYY format. For example, "03/08/2014."
  • Start Time. The time at which the session occurs. This field uses HH/MM AM/PM format. For example, "10:00 AM," "01:00 PM," "03:00 PM."
  • End Date. The date on which the session ends. This field uses the MM/DD/YYYY format. For example, "03/08/2014."
  • End TIme. This field uses HH/MM AM/PM format. For example, "10:00 AM," "01:00 PM," "03:00 PM."
  • Session Duration. The period of time that a session lasts. A maximum of 720 hours is allowed. The system converts the minutes to hours and minutes if you type more than 60 minutes in the Mins. field.
  • Maximum Attendees. The largest number of participants possible or allowed. For example, "10." (Each session may vary in maximum attendees.)
  • Classroom. A single classroom may be selected by typing to automatically search or by clicking the selection button to display a list of classrooms.
  • Instructor(s). You can include as many instructors as needed by typing to automatically search or by clicking the selection button to display a list of instructors.
  • Details. Additional description or instruction for this session. For example, use this field to provide directions, pre-requisite supplies, and so on.

Offline training must contain at least one session. Once an offline training is added, it can be included in an assignment. Note: Sessions are not assignments. Once a user with appropriate permissions assigns an offline training, it is ready for enrollment.
