IMS Records
Your IMS users create multiple records that help
keep track of incidents and manage your organization's follow-up process. This section describes
each type of record and the information that it captures.
Incident Report
Your users can submit incident reports to report an incident, a near miss, or a general observation about a condition that could lead to an incident. Users can submit incidents anonymously, if allowed by your organization.
Event
Event records pull together related information, such as incident reports, injuries, and tasks that resulted from the same issue. For example, a supervisor creates an event record for a spill and links it to relevant incident reports and follow-up tasks.
Supervisor Report
Supervisor reports capture more detailed information about an incident than an incident report. Supervisors of the injured worker or of the area the incident occurred typically complete this report.
Task
A task assigns a specific action to an individual who has to complete it within a given period of time. Operators usually create tasks from an incident report or an event and assign them to other employees. Tasks display on assignees’ home pages once they are assigned.
Investigation Forms
You can assign users investigation forms to fill out as part of an investigation task. These forms allow safety professionals to gather information about an incident from those involved. You can link completed forms to the event from which the tasks were assigned and to any related injuries.
Injury
Injury records simplify OSHA reporting. Information from certain fields transfers to OSHA reports, as appropriate. Not all fields transfer, and not all fields display on all reports. For example, the injury date and time get copied to both OSHA 300 and OSHA 301. The place where the injury occurred displays only on the OSHA 301 form.
